Financial Advice from the Government?

It turns out that there is a U.S. Government Financial Literacy and Education Commission. On the Commission’s Web site, Mymoney.gov, it states that the goal is to teach the “basics about financial education” to Americans. Imagine that, the federal government, already in a state of multi-trillion dollar debt, giving financial advice to ordinary Americans. By now, nothing in government surprises me. Below is a chart showing the debt as of yesterday.
