This story from OneNewsNow reports on the U.S. Embassy in Iraq holding a party with a “gay pride” theme. The story reports that, “Embassy employees were encouraged to attend the Baghdad event dressed in drag or as a homosexual icon.” More details on the event, sponsored by a group of Embassy employees, were reported in a Washington Post column a week or so ago.
Talk about bad diplomacy: U.S. government employees in a quasi-occupied Muslim country dressing in drag and taking pride in it. It not only represents an unsettling degree of arrogance but also a poor sense of diplomatic concern. Does anyone think that this will help our efforts in the region?
