Americans for Tax Reform has released its 2009 “Cost of Government Day” report. Each year, the organization calculates how long Americans have to work in order to finally pay for the total cost of all government. This year, the date was yesterday, August 12 — 26 days longer than last year. The organization notes that, “Working people must toil 224 days out of the year just to meet all costs imposed by government” and that “… the cost of government consumes 61.34 percent of national income.”
The numbers are staggering. Does anyone think this is a good thing?
